FIDI Global Alliance and Pan American International Movers Association (PAIMA) announce collaboration on the FIDI Professional Cooperation Guidelines (PCGs)

FIDI Global Alliance (FIDI) and the Pan American International Movers Association (PAIMA) have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the use of the Professional Cooperation Guidelines for International Movers (The PCGs) on 1 October 2020. The Guidelines serve as an operational manual on how companies in the moving industry should work together to service international shipments, whether as booker, origin, or destination agent.

Following this MoU, the PCGs are now recognised as an industry norm by all PAIMA members.

“This is an important step in further collaboration in the moving and relocation industry. With this third licensing agreement on the FIDI PCGs by well-known industry associations, we are raising the standards for everyone,” said Mr. Jesse van Sas, Secretary General at FIDI Global Alliance.

Positive Impact on the Industry

The Professional Cooperation Guidelines for International Movers (PCGs) offer advice on how to work together most effectively and how to act in a conflict situation.

The PCGs, originally developed by FIDI Global Alliance for the benefit of FIDI Affiliates, were adopted by the IAM (International Association of Movers) in 2018, and by LACMA (Latin American and Caribbean International Movers Association) in 2019. “By endorsing the FIDI Professional Cooperation Guidelines for International Movers, PAIMA demonstrates that the PCGs are recognized as the reference document for successful cooperation in international relocation”, said Jesse van Sas, Secretary General at FIDI.

PAIMA believes that by reaching this Memorandum of Understanding with FIDI Global Alliance, their members will have access to unique cooperation guidelines which will benefit all moving companies and the customers they serve. Leveraging unique value adds from other industry associations helps PAIMA offer their members additional value-added resources, while also assisting in creating more inter-association cooperation. Unique association value adds, like the FIDI PCGs; gives PAIMA members additional valued resources without having to “re-invent the wheel”. The end goal is better cooperation, better resources, and more information for the moving industry.
